Development Assistant

Job Summary:

The Development Assistant will support the Advancement Department, working most closely with the Data Systems Manager, Alumnae Director and Director of Volunteer Engagement & Special Events. He/she will provide data-focused support pertaining mainly (but not limited) to special events and donor communication. Secondary opportunities may include writing and marketing efforts through donor letters and recognition, and coordination and execution of the marketing of special events. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Compensation:

Approximately $19-$27/hour based on experience, plus a competitive benefits package, including but not limited to health, dental and vision insurance, tuition discount, education reimbursement, generous paid time off package, 403(b) retirement plan match, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Become independently proficient in Raiser’s Edge to handle the following: event record creation; gift entry and acknowledgement; pulling queries, exports and reports for various segment-based communications, nametags, mailings, etc.
  • Coordinate online event registration through Boost My School, including building registration pages, tracking responses and monitoring and responding to inquiries and questions from internal staff, alumnae and donors.
  • Assist with the coordination of DSHA special events, including tracking registrations and responses, preparing nametags and event materials, and providing logistical support for events (including approx. 5-7 evening and 5-7 weekend events annually). Events include, but are not limited to, the DSHA Auction, Golf Outing, Benefit Parties, Mother and Father Daughter events, Alumnae Weekend, DSHA Connect events, President’s Dinner, DSHA/MUHS Christmas Party, Grandparents Liturgy, and Volunteer Dinner.
  • Become independently proficient in auction software, tracking and entering auction items and registrations.
  • Use Raiser’s Edge, ReceipterPro, and ThankView to prepare and deliver donor acknowledgements and other donor communications, including letters, mail merges, and personalized video messages.
  • Manage and execute the scholarship thank you card process, which happens twice/year.
  • Manage the Foundations calendar for proposals, reporting and stewardship.
  • Incorporate and maintain DSHA’s mission and vision throughout all communications-based projects, maintaining DSHA’s brand standard and voice.
  • Complete other duties as required in support of the Development team.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Position requires a high school diploma or GED, associate’s degree is preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in database. Special events support experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Required:

  • Must be able to learn new processes and software systems quickly.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and willing to pay careful attention to integrity of data.
  • Excellent proofreading, written and oral communications are essential.
  • Must be open to coaching and feedback.
  • Critical thinking and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and committed to meeting or exceeding deadlines.
  • Must be fluent in MS Office. 
  • Must be able to work evenings (approx. 5 to 7 per year) and weekend days (approx. 5 to 7 per year) to assist with events.

Preferred:

  • Raiser’s Edge experience is preferred.

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Frequently, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.

The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: 

The work takes place in primarily an office/school environment.
